The Super Eagles of Nigeria have ended their winless run against Ghana as they defeated the Black Stars in an international friendly held in Morocco.

A first-half goal from Cyril Dessers gave the Super Eagles the lead before a second-half strike from Ademola Lookman gave Nigeria a two-goal cushion.

Jordan Ayew's late goal reduced the deficit as the match ended in a 2-1 win for the Super Eagles.

Sports Brief takes a look at the five best players in the game.

Five best players in Nigeria vs Ghana

1. Alex Iwobi

The former Arsenal star was arguably the best player on the pitch, and he was a different person in the new formation compared to his role at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Fulham midfielder was deployed as a number ten and showed glimpses of what he could do if given freedom in attack.

He capped off the game with an assist for Lookman's goal in the second half.

2. Lawrence Ati Zigi

The Ghanaian goalkeeper was one of the reasons why the Black Stars didn't concede more than two goals against the Super Eagles.

The St. Gallen star stopped three early goal-bound strikes from Kelechi Iheanacho and Dessers to keep his team in the game.

3. Wilfred Ndidi

The Leicester City midfielder returned to the Super Eagles squad after missing the AFCON 2023 tournament due to injury.

The Nigerian midfielder showed why he was the missing piece in the Super Eagles midfield department at the AFCON.

Raphael Onyedika replaced him in the 71st minute, but his presence on the pitch brought stability to Super Eagles midfield.

4. Ernest Nuamah

The Lyon youngster was a constant threat to the Super Eagles defenders in the game and caused many problems for Nigeria's fullbacks.

He set up a goal-scoring chance for Antoine Semenyo in the first half, but the Bournemouth striker could not hit the back of the net.

5. Benjamin Tanimu

The former Bendel Insurance defender impressed on his debut for the Super Eagles, and his positioning in the right-centre back position helped Bright Osayi-Samuel get involved in the attack.

Nigerians troll Ghanaians on social media

Sports Brief earlier reported on Nigerians trolling Ghanaians on social media after Super Eagles' victory over the Black Stars in Morocco.

Both countries are known to be rivals and take advantage of any positive results they get when they meet.
