FootballDennis Bergkamp Declares Grandson a Gooner Despite Child’s Dad Being a Man United Player
- Arsenal legend Dennis Gergkamp’s daughter recently welcomed a child
- Bergkamp declared the child would be affiliated with Arsenal for life
- This is despite the child’s father being a contracted Man United player
Arsenal legend Dennis Bergkamp is a proud grandfather as his daughter Estelle recently gave birth to his grandson.
Estelle welcomed the bundle of joy in February, sharing the news on her social media.
She recently shared a photo with her newborn while standing next to a statue of her father at the Emirates. The baby wore an Arsenal shirt bearing Bergkamp’s name on the back.
The former Arsenal forward shared Estelle’s photo on his Instagram as he shared a daring caption, declaring his grandson would be a “Gooner for life”.

“My grandson, a Gooner for life” he wrote alongside an emoji of a heart and football.
While the post was quite befitting, it raised some questions, particularly about what the baby’s father would have to say about his son being ‘ordained’ as a North Londoner.
Estelle’s partner is none other than Donny van de Beek, a player who is currently contracted at Arsenal’s fierce rivals Manchester United.
Van de Beek joined the Red Devils in 2020 but has been unable to seal his place in the first team, ultimately earning loan spells at Everton and now Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany.
The midfielder married Estelle in 2022, and in February 2024, the couple welcomed their second child.
It is easy to see why Van de Beek has little say in which team his son will be affiliated to, especially because his future almost certainly lies away from Old Trafford.
Also, Bergkamp’s legendary status arguably gives him a bigger say in matters football than Van de Beek, who is still finding his way in the game.
