Earlier in the week, Forest suffered a similar fate after they were deducted four points for flouting the Premier League's profitability and sustainability rules.
The move saw the Nuno Espirito-tutored side drop to the relegation zone, with Luton Town moving to safety.
Chelsea risk more severe punishment
According to Daily Star, Chelsea risk facing a more severe punishment than Nottingham and Everton next season.
The Blues, who have spent nearly £1 billion on players under Todd Boehly, are yet to be charged with breaching EPL's profit and sustainability guidelines.
However, it is understood that they are facing a daunting task to abide by after struggling to meet on-field targets.
Stefan Borson, a former Manchester City financial advisor, also claimed that Chelsea could face a harsher punishment next season.
"This year, from an operating perspective, is going to be even worse than last year because they've got no Champions League and no Europe at all," Borson said.
