  • Nigeria remains the highest-ranked valuable team in Africa
  • The Super Eagles currently have a market value of €345 million
  • Ghana unfortunately dropped out of Africa’s top five most valuable teams

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been ranked as the 13th Most Valuable team in the world despite losing the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations final to Ivory Coast in February.

England, France, Portugal, Brazil, and Spain are currently the top five most valuable national teams in the world while 2022 FIFA World Cup champions Argentina dropped to sixth.

According to Punch NG, Nigeria has a market value of €345 million and is the highest-ranked African nation in the most recent rankings, despite a value loss of more than €120 million.

Ivory Coast, following their AFCON victory on home soil, rose to third on the latest rankings and are now ahead of the likes of Senegal and Algeria with Morocco taking second spot.

Ghana, unfortunately, dropped out of the top five most valuable teams in the continent after having an awful AFCON where the Black Stars were booted out in the group phase.

Here, Sports Brief along with Transfer Markt lists the most valuable teams in Africa in March.

Finidi wants victory against Ghana

Meanwhile, Finidi has stated that the Super Eagles’ goal is to get positive results in their upcoming friendlies against Ghana and Mali, Daily Post reports.

Nigeria will tackle the Black Stars and the Eagles of Mali on March 22 and March 28 respectively in their first international games after the 2023 AFCON.

Finidi, who was appointed as the interim Super Eagles coach this week, says it is important for the team to maintain the high standard they set for themselves at the last AFCON.

Finidi deploys new attacking formation

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Finidi has ditched the 3-4-3 formation that coach Jose Peseiro deployed at the AFCON in Ivory Coast ahead of the friendly games against Ghana and Mali.

The interim Super Eagles manager has reverted to a 4-3-3 formation as he hopes to play attacking football against the Black Stars when both teams meet on Friday.
