Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has named his favourite player of all time at the club.

Ratcliffe became United's co-owner after his 25 per cent takeover of the club was ratified in February.

The development marked a new era for the Manchester club, who have endured a turbulent few years under the ownership of The Glazers.

Since his arrival, Ratcliffe has been in the spotlight in the last few weeks, with the British billionaire sharing his perspective about the future of the club.

Recently, the INEOS CEO, who is also a lifelong United supporter was asked who his favourite Red Devil of all time is.

While the club have seen countless world-class players don the iconic red shirt, Ratcliffe settled for Cristiano Ronaldo.

"The greatest to have ever played for United? Probably Ronaldo I guess. I would think Cristiano Ronaldo," he told the Geraint Thomas Cycling Club podcast.
"George Best was, I suppose, probably the most naturally gifted player I have ever seen play football," he added.

Ronaldo's career at Man United

Despite his acrimonious Old Trafford exit, Ronaldo is widely regarded as a club legend at Manchester United.

Signed as a teenager in 2003, the forward quickly became a fan favourite at the Theatre of Dreams, thanks to his dazzling skills.

He went on to play a key role in United's dominance in the mid-2000s, helping the club win three consecutive Premier League titles and the Champions League.

During this period, the 39-year-old developed into a world-class player, winning his first Ballon d'Or in 2008.

Whiel he went on to ply his trade with Real Madrid and Juventus, in 2021, in a move that surprised many, the Portugal international returned to Old Trafford.

He scored 18 Premier League goals in his first full season during his second spell.
