Ahead of the mouth-watering clash between Nigeria and Ghana, Sports Brief ranks the Super Eagles' best players in Europe's top five leagues according to ratings this season.

Best Nigeria players in Europe this season

3. Maduka Okoye

The former Watford goalkeeper is ranked third on the list with a current rating of 6.88, according to WhoScored.

The Nigerian international is back in form this season and has been one of the best goalkeepers in the Italian Serie A due to his performance for Udinese.

The German-born shot-stopper was not included in the Super Eagles squad to face Ghana this weekend, with Stanley Nwabali tipped to be in between the goalposts.

2. Victor Osimhen

The Super Eagles striker has failed to replicate his last season's form due to injuries, but he is still the second-best Nigerian player in Europe with a 6.93 average rating, according to WhoScored.

The 25-year-old has scored 13 goals and provided four assists in 24 appearances for Napoli this season, according to a report by TransferMarkt.

The former Lille striker was initially included in the 26-man squad for the Ghana clash but withdrew due to injury.

1. Victor Boniface

The Super Eagles striker holds the crown as the best Nigerian player in Europe's top five leagues this season due to his performance for Bayer Leverkusen in the German Bundesliga and the Europa League.

The former Bodo/Glmt star is way ahead in the overall ratings with 7.73, according to WhoScored.

Boniface was due to represent Nigeria at the AFCON but was withdrawn from the squad at the last minute due to injury and has been out of action since then.

Despite being on the sidelines, the Leverkusen star boasts 16 goals and eight assists in 23 appearances this campaign, according to TransferMarkt.

Okoye's ambition for Nigeria

Sports Brief also previously reported on Okoye expressing his desire to play for Nigeria after a prolonged absence in the goalkeeping position.

He will have to battle for the Super Eagles' top spot against top-rated Stanley Nwabali, who stole the show at the 2023 edition of AFCON.
