Rodgers has always been Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy’s favourite choice following the sacking of Jose Mourinho, but the club have been reluctant to approach him because of Leicester’s top-four ambitions.

Under Rodgers, Leicester City have been a force to reckon with in the Premier League and are well on course to play in Europe next season.

Despite staying in the top four for the majority of the season, however, Leicester are more likely to finish in Europa League places as their late slump in form in the season has seen the club drop to fifth on the log.

In an interesting twist of fate, Leicester face Spurs on the final day of the season, meaning the North London club have the power to ensure the Foxes finish outside the top four.

Europa League football is not disastrous by any stretch for Brendan Rodgers, who recently won the FA Cup with Leicester.

But Spurs bosses are extremely positive playing in Europe’s second-tier elite competition will not be enough incentive to keep Brendan Rodgers at the King Power stadium.

Spurs are in real danger of playing in the European Conference League next season or miss out on Europe altogether.

But according to The Sun, Daniel Levy is still convinced he can persuade Brendan Rodgers to join the North London club.

These latest reports leave the former Liverpool and Celtic boss with a real conundrum on the direction he wants to take his managerial career at this point.

With Harry Kane reportedly on the brink of a departure from Tottenham, Levy might also be forced to leave a huge kitty available to buy quality players to tempt top managers to the job.

At the moment, Rodgers is still signed to Leicester in a contract that is set to run four more years.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Harry Kane appears to have made up his mind to join Manchester City in a deal of around £100 million and it is his top priority this summer.

The England striker stunned the world after tendering his transfer request to the Spurs' board a few games to the end of the ongoing season.

His decision to quit came following the North Londoners' failure to beat Man City and win their first silverware in about a decade.

Sources claim the 27-year-old wants Tottenham to listen to offers from the Citizens or any other interested team.
