  • Samuel Chukwueze finally opened his Serie A goal account over the weekend
  • The Super Eagles star has struggled since joining the Rossoneri last summer
  • Chukwueze has managed just three goals in all competitions for AC Milan

Samuel Chukwueze has confessed life at AC Milan has not been easy after a troubling start in his first season with the Rossoneri.

The Super Eagles winger made the high-profile switch to the Serie A giants last summer from Villareal amid high expectations but has struggled to replicate his success since arriving in Italy.

According to Daily Post, Chukwueze, who scored his first-ever league goal in AC Milan’s 3-1 win at Hellas Verona on Sunday, admitted is determined to change the narrative following his recent struggles.

“These first few months have not been easy, I continue to work hard. I trust the coach and his plans for me, I just have to stay focused and continue with the hard work.”

Chukwueze has scored just three goals in all competitions for AC Milan and has fallen down the pecking order as Christian Pulisic is preferred to the Nigerian winger in the club’s attack.

Chukwueze speaks on Pulisic challenge

Meanwhile, Chukwueze admits that he cannot expect to dislodge Pulisic from the AC Milan team at the moment owing to the superb form of the former Chelsea winger, GOAL reports.

The American, who also joined the Serie A club in the summer from Chelsea, scored his 12th league goal of the season as the Rossoneri blazed past Hellas Verona on Sunday.

Chukwueze disclosed that it will be almost impossible to place Pulisic on the bench as the American winger has proven to be Stephano Pioli’s best winger this season with his goal contributions.

Chukwueze named Milan’s biggest flop

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that football expert Peppe Di Stefano says Chukwueze is AC Milan’s biggest flop this season after his challenging start to his career in Italy.

The 24-year-old has faced heavy criticism from fans and pundits after struggling to adapt to life in Italy following his €20 million summer transfer move from Villarreal.

AC Milan's manager, Pioli, had earlier criticized Chukwueze following the disappointing draw with Atalanta at the San Siro Stadium.
