FootballRaheem Sterling: Worst Free Kick Attempts in Football After Chelsea’s Star Attempt in FA Cup
- Raheem Sterling took one of the worst free-kicks in football history
- The winger had an off game in Chelsea's FA Cup win over Leicester
- Sports Brief looks at some of the other horrible free-kick attempts
Raheem Sterling's pathetic season continued on March 17, with the Chelsea winger guilty of missing a couple of open chances.
The Blues played host to Leicester City in the FA Cup quarter-finals, looking to reach the last four in their only likely route to silverware and European football next season. Mauricio Pochettino's side survived a scare to win 4-2 but could have had an easier outing had Sterling taken one of his numerous chances.
The English international missed a first-half penalty to double Chelsea's lead, a one-on-one situation and a poorly taken free-kick summing up a terrible afternoon for him despite the result.
His free-kick taken from just outside the area has quickly risen to the top of some of the worst free-kicks ever taken. His effort was nowhere near the goal as it flew straight to the stands.

4. Lionel Messi vs Colombia
Surprise, surprise. Who do we have here? Lionel Messi would be many people's choice to take a free-kick. But the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner had an uncharacteristic off night, skying his effort from the edge of the area.
5. Cristiano Ronaldo vs Leganes
Wherever Messi is mentioned, you definitely know that his arch-rival Cristiano Ronaldo isn't far away. The Portuguese icon, revered for his goalscoring prowess, has a couple of contenders for this category, but this mishit is our pick.
