  • Hugo Broos is preparing for South Africa's friendly matches against Andorra and Algeria later in March
  • After naming a 23-man squad for the matches, reports say two teenagers could break into the team soon
  • Broos confirmed that Relebohile Mofokeng and Shandrell Campbell have been consistent

The head coach of South Africa's national football team Hugo Broos is set to extend national team invitation to two Premier Soccer League teenagers.

Orlando Pirates star Relebohile Mofokeng and SuperSport United's Shandrell Campbell could be playing for the national team soon.

The pair might be breaking into the senior national team as Broos continues efforts to bolster the squad.

The Belgian tactician disclosed that he has been monitoring the pair for some time, saying they have been consistent.

However, neither of the impressive stars was named in the senior national team for the forthcoming matches, which Broos says is about them showing consistency over the next few months.

Broos said, as per iDiski Times:

“Those who are there, are there, there’s still [some] more on the list [we monitoring], we will look at them, Mofokeng [and Campbell].
“Mofokeng of Pirates is a very interesting player.
A very young player also, so we’ll see if he can keep his position at Pirates, okay… Then maybe there will come a moment when we call him.
“But he’s very good and it’s very good we detect those players, follow those players and at the right moment we will call them, you can be sure of it.”

Hugo Broos invites 10 new players

Sports Brief earlier reported that South Africa head coach, Hugo Broos, has introduced ten new players into his 23-man squad for the upcoming FIFA Series friendlies this month.

Bafana Bafana are scheduled to compete against Andorra and Algeria in the four-team friendly event in Algeria, with matches scheduled for March 21 and 26, respectively.

The friendlies will mark the debut of the FIFA Series, a biennial invitational football tournament featuring friendly matches between national teams from different confederations, held every March in even-numbered years.
