Antonio Conte has parted ways with Inter Milan after helping them win their first Serie A title in over a decade.

The Italian-born manager left his role as the head coach of the club on mutual consent two years after his appointment.

Sources reveal that the 51-year-old will be paid a £6 million severance package for the final year of his contract.

The former Chelsea boss was said to have had an issue with his employers after suggesting plans to cut down his squad in spite of their achievement according to Sky Sports.

Inter chairman Steven Zhang was said to have told Conte to cut his wage bill by 15 to 20 per cent and potentially sell players worth up to £70m this summer.

This appeared unacceptable for the manager who then decided to leave rather than force his players to leave the club. Meanwhile, a statement from the club reads:

"FC Internazionale Milano announces that it has reached an agreement for the consensual termination of the contract with the coach Antonio Conte.
"The whole club would like to thank Antonio for the extraordinary work he has done, which culminated in winning the 19th Scudetto. Antonio Conte will remain forever in the history of our club."

Inter finished atop of the table with 91 points - 12 points better than AC Milan who were second on the table at the end of the season.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Belgian star Romelu Lukaku could become a ring announcer when he eventually hangs his playing boot someday.

The 28-year-old striker was in the middle of the boxing ring announcing the fight as Inter Milan star Lautaro Martinez challenged his boss Antonio Conte after being substituted during Roma game.

A fight took place in one of their training sessions earlier this week with all their players and technical crew present.
