  • Kaizer Chiefs lost the Soweto Derby despite scoring two goals against Orlando Pirates
  • Former Bafana Bafana striker, Mark Williams claimed that he could fix Amakhosi's woes
  • Williams said he would emulate Benni McCarthy's successful impact at Manchester United

Every defeat at Kaizer Chiefs brings a fresh torrent of advice for the Motaung family to digest.

Amakhosi produced arguably their best performance under Cavin Johnson in their latest Soweto Derby defeat, only to be bettered by a more clinical Orlando Pirates.

A former Kaizer Chiefs striker has put his hand up, hoping to be granted the opportunity to sharpen the shooting boots of Johnson's men.

Mark Williams was most famously part of South Africa's 1996 AFCON-winning squad and has playing experience on four continents, including Europe and South America.

However, he has yet to venture into professional coaching, instead focusing on his motivational speaking, television analysis and youth development, as recently published by the University of Johannesburg.

The former Molenbeek and Wolverhampton Wanderers forward commented on Chiefs' problems in front of goal, most notably their inability to convert any of their 17 attempts in their Nedbank Cup exit to Milord FC.

He questioned why specialist striking coaches were overlooked and stated he could replicate the work of South Africa's all-time leading scorer, who currently works in the Premier League. Goal quoted Williams as saying:

"If you give me the opportunity to coach your strikers, you will definitely see the difference. Kaizer Chiefs are a big team but week in and week out the supporters get disappointed. If they miss chances and I’m there, I will address it like Benni has been doing at Manchester United."

Benni McCarthy's 30 goals for Bafana Bafana have yet to be surpassed, with Bernard Parker the closest with 23. Williams sits just outside the top 20 with his four strikes for the national team, as per TransferMarkt.

Jose Riviero praises Soweto Derby intensity

Sports Brief recently reported on Jose Riveiro's thoughts after a dramatic Soweto Derby at FNB Stadium.

The Spaniard's team came from behind twice as they completed a league double over their oldest enemies.

He applauded both squads, complementing his opponents for their competitive spirit and relentless effort.
