  • Napoli versus Torino could mark a huge landmark for Victor Osimhen
  • The Nigerian striker could make his 100th Serie A appearance for the club
  • Osimhen has scored 61 goals since making his Napoli debut in 2020

Napoli’s forthcoming league clash against Torino on Friday, March 8, could see Victor Osimhen make his 100th Serie A appearance for the reigning Italian champions.

The 25-year-old Nigerian forward joined the Naples club in 2020 from Ligue 1 giants Lille and has quickly established himself as one of Napoli’s top players after four seasons.

According to All Nigeria Soccer, if Osimhen takes to the pitch against Torino, it will mark a landmark for the Super Eagles forward, who has already featured 99 times in Serie A for Aurelio de Laurenti's team.

Since joining Napoli, the Nigerian forward has only missed 42 games for the Italian club due to injuries and commitments with the Nigeria national team at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Osimhen has also bagged 61 goals in the process and was also instrumental as Napoli won their first Serie A title in 33 years last season, scoring 26 goals in the league to emerge as its top scorer.

Osimhen won’t bring success to Chelsea

Meanwhile, former Chelsea defender William Gallas has warned the Blues that signing Osimhen in the summer will not guarantee their Premier League campaigns will become successful, Punch NG reports.

The Napoli star forward has been identified as a key target for Mauricio Pochettino’s team ahead of the summer transfer window. Still, Gallas fears the Nigerian will not be enough to change the fortunes of the struggling club.

Chelsea finished 12th in the Premier League last season, and the Blues are on course to finish below the top half of the table again after too many poor results.

Why Osimhen should join Chelsea

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Chelsea are desperate to sign a marquee striker and signing Osimhen in the summer will fill the gap left by the exit of Romelu Lukaku.

Under Pochettino's guidance, Chelsea boasts a young and driven squad with Christopher Nkunku, Cole Palmer, and Nicholas Jackson leading the Blues' attack, but none can be compared to the quality Osimhen will bring to the London club.
