  • The Premier League table would have an interesting look without added time
  • League leaders Liverpool have proven to be masters of stoppage-time goals
  • Without stoppage time, the Merseysiders would be in third place on the log

The Premier League would have a completely different look if matches ended immediately after the 90th minute.

With the league coming to its business end, the title race is one of the most thrilling we have seen in years as three clubs; Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal all have a strong chance to win it.

While these three teams are brilliant in their own right, they are very different in terms of how they choose to win their games.

Liverpool have proven to be the masters of late goals, while Arsenal have been frightening in attack, especially since the turn of the year.

For Manchester City, it is almost impossible to beat Pep Guardiola’s side once they take the lead.

Premier League table without stoppage time

One common theme among all these clubs, however, has been the number of last-minute goals.

In a bid to crack down time wasting, stoppage time has increased significantly this season, and this has in turn led to more late goals in the league.

That said, Sports Brief takes a look at the teams that are masters of seeing out the game before 90 minutes, and how the table would look like without stoppage time, as cited on GiveMeSport.

Liverpool prepare for Man City test

As the title race heats up, Liverpool are preparing for arguably their biggest test of the season when they host Manchester City on Sunday, March 10.

City go into the game unbeaten in their last 10 league matches, recording nine wins and one draw during that span.

Liverpool are also in fairly decent form, winning each of their last four league matches, including a dramatic win over Nottingham Forest on Saturday, March 2, as per BBC.

Klopp hints at retirement

Sports Brief also reported on Klopp’s recent comments which strongly suggested he may not manage another team after Liverpool.

The 56-year-old was ecstatic as the Reds warmed up for the Man City game with a routine 5-1 win over Slavia Praha in the Europa League last 16 first leg.

Klopp, however, had an interesting answer when asked whether he saw any outstanding player from the opposition on Thursday.
