Nigeria began their 2023 African Games on a disappointing note after the Flying Eagles suffered a surprise 2-1 loss to Uganda in their opening Group B game.
Usama Arafat opened the scoring for Uganda in the 33rd minute, but the Flying Eagles equalised thanks to Sadiq Isiyaka, who headed home from a corner kick in the 37th minute.
A late goal by Ivan Irinimbabazi ensured the Ugandans walked home with all three points as Nigeria were condemned to the bottom of Group B after Senegal also defeated South Sudan 1-0 on Thursday.
According to Daily Post, Flying Eagles head coach, Ladan Bosso, is optimistic his team will bounce back from the disappointing loss to Uganda as they look ahead to their next game.

Nigeria will take on South Sudan on Monday, March 11 as they get set to revive their hopes of winning a gold medal at the competition in Ghana.
How will Nigeria need to qualify?
The Flying Eagles must ensure they get a comprehensive victory when Bosso’s team take on South Sudan in their next Group B game at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday.
In order to qualify for the knockout phase of the football event at the African Games, Nigeria must need to win their next two matches to have six points and progress as one of the top two teams in the group.
A draw and a win might still be good enough for the Flying Eagles but if Senegal fails to beat Uganda in their next game, nothing but a victory in their next two games will be good enough for Nigeria to qualify.
