The football rivalry between South Africa and Nigeria will heat up a notch in the coming months.

Banyana Banyana are on a collision course with the Super Falcons as Africa's two premier women's teams dash to squeeze into one qualifying place for Paris 2024.

Taking a back seat to the ladies for now, Bafana Bafana will be out for revenge against the Super Eagles when they play a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Nigeria.

Two women's teams qualify for the upcoming Olympics, but the pair have been unfortunate enough to be drawn in the same half of the bracket.

With all due respect to Morocco and Zambia, the teams on the other side of the bracket playing for the second spot, South Africa and Nigeria and continents headline acts.

Robert Marawa answered several questions while promoting his new ambassador role with Showmax. The Marawa Sports Worldwide host will be the face of the company's new mobile subscription service. When asked if he thought Banyana would qualify for Paris 2024, he told Sports Brief:

"I've got no doubt. Desiree Ellis is the number one coach on the African continent in the women's game. There was a time when Nigeria were everything in the women's game on the continent but there are so many more reserves that Desiree can tap into now. We will make it to the Olympic games and we will make a mark."

Turning his attention to Bafana, Marawa's wish is that the PSL backs Hugo Broos and that the national team is prioritised. He explained:

"I hope and I pray, because we can. If we can eliminate those things which are unnecessary, we will reach our potential."

Robert Marawa wants bigger PSL salaries

Sports Brief recently reported on Marawa answering a question about the size of Mamelodi Sundowns' salaries.

As with any industry, a lack of competitive remuneration will see a drain of talent in search of better rewards.

The talk show host praised Masandawana, urging clubs to find a way to become more financially appealing.
