  • Kylian Mbappe has been labelled as the best player in the world
  • He scored two excellent goals for PSG in the Champions League
  • The Frenchman also chalked a new milestone with his UCL brace

Former Arsenal and Manchester City star, Samir Nasri, has bestowed upon Kylian Mbappe the title of the 'best player in the world' at present.

Nasri said the Paris Saint-Germain star had game-changing abilities that set him apart from all other current players, elevating him to the top spot.

While the ex-France international's assessment of his compatriot may seem lofty, Mbappe continues to showcase the facets of his on-field evolution.

Mbappe inspires PSG to UCL quarter-finals

In his most recent appearance for the Parisians, Mbappe scored a pair of excellent goals, propelling the French champions into the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League with a convincing 4-1 aggregate victory over Real Sociedad.

By notching these two goals, the France captain achieved a remarkable milestone, becoming the second-youngest player to reach 45 Champions League goals in both group stage and knockout matches at just 25 years and 76 days old, according to ESPN.

He is the competition's joint-top scorer this season with six goals, and only Bayern Munich's Harry Kane has been able to match him. Mbappe's overall tally in the UCL now stands at 46 goals.

Before his decisive contributions and subsequent qualification, PSG, who reached the Champions League final in 2020, had experienced early exits from Europe's premier club competition in five of the last seven seasons.

Nasri hails Mbappe as the 'best' player

In light of the 2018 World Cup winner's heroics, accolades have poured in from various quarters, with Nasri joining the chorus by declaring him the 'best player' in the world.

"For me, Kylian Mbappé is the best player in the world. He's the only player with whom something happens when he takes the ball," the ex-Gunner said as quoted by Football Tweet.

Mbappe opens up relationship with PSG coach

In a previous update, Sports Brief highlighted a statement asserting Mbappe had 'no issue' with PSG coach, Luis Enrique.

This came after the French forward netted two goals in his team's triumph over Real Sociedad in the UCL last 16 on Tuesday.

Mbappe's recent appearances for the Ligue 1 giants saw him either begin as a substitute or be substituted off during matches.
