It’s not been an easy season for Barcelona’s players and supporters.

The Catalan club won La Liga last season but have struggled to replicate that same form in 2023/24.

To make matters worse, Xavi Hernandez announced that he would leave the club at the end of the season, adding to the existing drama at the Spanish side.

The former Barca midfielder made the decision after his side lost 5-3 to Villarreal in January, Forbes reported.

Since then, the club have been hunting for a replacement, with some former players linked with the move.

Barca superstars are worried

The uncertainty over who will take over and what they will bring to the club is reportedly causing concern among players.

Barca Universal reported that the players are worried about their future, owing to the fact that Xavi played a significant role in signings and giving youngsters a chance.

Players are now concerned that without his backing, things won’t be the same for them at the defending champions.

Who could replace Xavi?

While many big-name coaches are linked with the side, including Thomas Tuchel and Hansie Flick, Barca are also keeping an eye on Rafael Márquez, Marca reported.

Márquez is currently the coach of the Barcelona B side and is an option due to his experience with some of the youngsters in the senior squad who were promoted from the B side.

Barcelona’s coffers could get a boost

Apart from their troubles in finding a new manager, FC Barcelona are also stressing over their current financial situation.

The club are one of the giants of world football, but it's no secret they have been struggling to stay afloat financially in recent seasons.

The La Liga champions could be given a financial boost, however, if they beat Napoli in the Champions League, Sports Brief reported.
