Bright Osayi-Samuel is yet to get over the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations after hitting the popular Coup du Marteauu dance during the game between Fenerbache and Hatayspor.

The Nigeria right-back opened the scoring for the Turkish giants after meeting a teasing cross from ex-Manchester City forward Eden Dzeko halfway through the first half.

Cengiz Ünder doubled the lead for Fenerbache just before half-time after finishing off a brilliant assist from Dusan Tadic.

In a video shared on social media, Osayi-Samuel ran to the corner flag to perform the Coup du Marteau dance as his teammates joined him to celebrate.

The dance was popularised during the Africa Cup of Nations by the Ivorian team and has since been used globally. It is still in the trends on the social media platform TikTok.

Osayi-Bright played a role as the Super Eagles of Nigeria reached the final of the Africa Cup of Nations before losing to the host nation in the final.

Franck Kessie and Sebastien Haller scored for Ivory Coast as they came from a goal down to win the tournament on home soil, as reported by Euronews.

Ivory Coast beat Nigeria in AFCON final

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Sebastien Haller netted the winner as Ivory Coast came from a goal down to beat Nigeria in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Super Eagles took the lead before half-time through William Troost-Ekong, but Franck Kessie levelled after the break before Haller finished off the game in style.

The host nation dominated the early exchanges with the Brighton forward coming close after meeting a cross from the left sent on by the lively Simon Adingra.

Eguaveon named interim Nigeria coach

Sports Brief also reported that the NFF has appointed Augustine Eguavoen as the interim Super Eagles coach following the announcement of Jose Peseiro’s departure on Friday, February 1.

Peseiro penned a heartfelt message to Nigerians confirming his exit as Super Eagles coach following the expiration of his contract with the NFF after leading the Super Eagles to win the silver medal at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

According to Soccernet, Eguavoen will take charge of the Three-time AFCON winners on an interim basis till a permanent solution is sorted out as the NFF begins their search for Peseiro’s permanent successor.
