FootballFA Cup: Nottingham Forest Star Openly Rejects Result, Suggests Casemiro’s Goal Was Offside
- Manchester United edged Nottingham Forest 1-0 in the FA Cup
- Casemiro scored a late winner from Bruno Fernandes’ free kick
- But one Nottingham Forest player thinks the goal shouldn’t have stood
Nottingham Forest star Morgan Gibbs-White openly criticized the manner in which his team lost to Manchester United in the FA Cup using an interesting comparison.
Forest hosted the Red Devils at the City ground on Wednesday, February 28, with Gibbs-White playing the entire 90 minutes.
With the game meandering towards a draw, Casemiro scored a last-minute winner from a Bruno Fernandes free kick, but the goal was subject to a lengthy review from VAR for a possible offside.

Gibbs-White reacts on social media
Taking to social media after the game, former Wolves midfielder Gibbs-White openly expressed his discontent as he compared Casemiro’s goal to Virgil van Dijk’s header in the Carabao Cup final.
Van Dijk thought he had given Liverpool the lead against Chelsea on Sunday, February 25, only for his effort to be ruled out as the officials deemed his teammate Wataru Endo to be in an offside position before blocking Levi Colwill.
As reported by The Mirror, Gibbs-White shared a split image of the two incidents, which were strangely very similar.
Moments before Casemiro’s goal, a Manchester United player appeared to be blocking an opponent while standing in an offside position.
United had a difficult time breaking down Nottingham Forest, and it almost looked like the game would go to extra time before Casemiro’s winner.
The Red Devils’ win, coupled with Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Southampton means the two heavyweights will face off in the quarter-final of the competition.
