His performances caught the eyes of many clubs in Africa and abroad. Several clubs in the DStv Premiership, including Kaizer Chiefs, were mentioned as a potential destination if he left Chippa United.
In Ivory Coast, he kept four clean sheets and started every match in the Super Eagles' impressive run to the final.
His penalty saves against South Africa garnered him widespread admiration from Nigeria fans across the world.

Speaking in South Africa, he dismissed reports that he had received offers to leave Chippa United.
"I only see offers online; maybe some of my friends screenshot, like, bro, this offer is coming, but to be honest, I have never seen an offer on my table. To be honest, I haven't seen any offer," via Mahlatse Mphahlele.
Nwabali's future at Chilli Boys is still unclear. The club recently signed new goalkeeper, Darren Johnson, from the University of Pretoria. This means the Nigerian could be heading towards the exit door.

Rufai on Nwabali
Sports Brief earlier reported on Nigeria legend Peter Rufai saying Nwabali deserves to be the No. 1 goalkeeper for the Super Eagles.

“He has proven himself beyond every reasonable doubt based on what he has achieved within the space of three weeks of the tournament."
