Kaizer Chiefs' hopes of finishing the 2023/24 season with silverware went up in flames on Sunday after they were bundled out of the Nedbank Cup by little-known Milford FC.
The Soweto giants, who were heavily tipped to go through to the next round as favourites, were beaten 5-4 on penalties by Milford following a 0-0 draw after extra time.
According to GOAL, Kaizer Chiefs coach, Cavin Johnson, has stated the defeat has been hard for his team to take, revealing the defeat and exit from the Nedbank Cup has taken its toll on his players.
"So, we're not in a good space now because we knew what this meant for us and we lost it today, I think you can see the players; they know what it means to them.

"Myself, I know what this meant for us to carry it further and go to the next round but this is football. We wish the opposition luck but for us, it's not good enough."
Kaizer Chiefs are currently sixth in the DStv Premier League table, 14 points behind leaders, Mamelodi Sundowns, and the Nedbank Cup was their best opportunity to earn silverware this season, but all aspirations have been dashed.
