South African manager Benni McCarthy has opened up on being proud of Bafana Bafana players who represented the country at the just concluded 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Bafana Bafana finished third behind Nigeria and the eventual winner, Ivory Coast, with the team being impressive throughout the tournament.
Hugo Broos' side performance is ranked amongst the best solely for fielding majorly local players from the South African league.
In an interview with iDiskiTimes, McCarthy confirmed many people had asked him about Bafana Bafana players after their impressive outing at the African championship.

"Yes, it was nice. And it put a big smile on my face," he said.
"Because yeah, people are asking about our players and our league! Because, like, 'Where do these guys play? Because wow, I saw they have skills. And they're excellent and quick and this and that'."
The former FC Porto striker is also happy to be able to say the players all played in the South African league instead of Europe.
"And I said, 'Yeh, they all played in the South African league'. So it's nice that you can say that, not just 'Ah, he plays in Europe, he plays in Europe', where people think that's normal," he added.
"But they all play in South Africa, and we've done what we've done, so yeah, so happy to speak about the rising of our players' profiles and our national team with people over here. So that's been good."
