Former Nigeria international Victor Ikpeba has advocated for the Nigeria Football Federation to retain the services of Jose Peseiro following his exploits at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 63-year-old Portuguese tactician revived Nigerians' trust for him after leading the Super Eagles to the AFCON, losing narrowly to hosts Ivory Coast in a thrilling final.
According to The Nation, Ikpeba, who once starred for Ligue 1 giants Monaco, pleaded for Peseiro to continue as Nigeria’s coach, noting that the gaffer has earned the right to stay if he wants to.
“I must thumb up our boys. They have done well. We have to commend them and Peseiro. We have to let Super Eagles fans know that we are not sacking our manager except he wants to go. If he wants to stay, he should stay.”

Peseiro’s contract as Super Eagles coach comes to an end at the end of February, except the NFF begins a process of renewing his contract.
