Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, was one of the outstanding players at the just concluded 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, which was hosted by Ivory Coast.

The Chippa United goalkeeper became one of the biggest revelations in the competition after displacing Francis Uzoho as Nigeria's national team number one.

The former Enyimba star kept four clean sheets in the tournament, with his penalty heroics against South Africa in the semi-final being one of the top performances by a player in the competition.

Five gifts Nwabali got after AFCON success

Nwabali's exploits at the AFCON 2023 didn't go unnoticed, as the Nigerian goalkeeper was ably rewarded with gifts and titles.

In this article, Sports Brief takes a look at the gifts the Chippa United goalkeeper has gotten thus far.

1. $57,000 in AFCON bonuses

The Nigerian goalkeeper's performance at the 34th edition of the AFCON earned him $57,000 in bonuses, which is entirely different from what he would receive as match allowances.

The Chippa United star also gained more followers on his social media pages, with his Instagram page gaining over 700,000 new followers, while his X handle nudged past 100,000 followers.

2. 20 million naira from Rivers State government

The Super Eagles goalkeeper was also recognised by his State of Origin, Rivers, when he visited Governor Sim Fubara.

He was given a sum of $13,200, an equivalent of 20 million naira at the time.

3. Chieftaincy title as Ugo Egbema

Nwabali is now regarded as a chief in his hometown, Egbema, in River State, after being crowned the Ugoh Egbema 1 Of Onelga when he visited the palace of his town's traditional ruler.

4. 3-bedroom flat in Abuja

Aside from being blessed with cash gifts by the federal government, Nwabali was presented with a plot of land and a 3-bedroom flat in Abuja.

According to several reports, the 3-bedroom flat is situated in one of the highbrow communities in Abuja, while the land gift is located on the outskirts of the nation's capital.

5. National and state honours

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu presented the whole 25-man squad that represented the country at the competition with a national medal as a Member of the Order of Niger (MON), which added to Nwabali's rewards.

The River state governor, Fubara, also gave him a special medal to crown his successful outing at the African championship representing Nigeria.

Ex-Super Eagles star hails Nwabali

Sports Brief earlier reported that former Nigerian international, Alloy Agu, has lauded the display of Nwabali at AFCON 2023.

The Chippa United goalkeeper narrowly missed out on the Golden Glove after conceding twice in the final against eventual winners Ivory Coast.
