Former Super Eagles defender, Godfrey Oboabona, is prepared to return to action for Nigeria Professional Football League side, Sunshine Stars.
The 33-year-old can't wait to return to the pitch as action resumes in the Nigerian topflight after a break due to the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
Born in Ondo state, Oboabona was unveiled last Thursday as he returned to his former club for the rest of the season.
Since leaving Dinamo Batumi of Georgia in 2021, the defender has been without a club.

He was billed to feature in Sunshine United's home game against Kwara United but could not play due to registration issues. He told Punch:
“I’m 100 per cent ready. I’ve been in camp with them, and I was in the lineup for the last game, but unfortunately, on match-day, I was told my registration was not yet done. When I’m on the field, I play with my whole heart, and I want to give my all again."
Following his impressive performance for the club during the 2012/2013 season, Oboabona earned a national team call-up under Stephen Keshi.
He was part of the squad that won the AFCON title in 2013, and he also went on to feature at the FIFA Confederation Cup and 2014 World Cup.
Oboabona hopes to bolster the back line of the squad as they are currently 15th in the NPFL with 23 points, just two points above the drop zone.

FootballNPFL chief unimpressed with Jose Peseiro
Sports Brief earlier reported that Ahmed Gara-Gombe strongly expressed his opinion that appointing Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro for the Super Eagles is one of NFF's most significant errors.
The words of the NPFL stakeholder echoed through the Nigerian sports community as many were sceptical about the Portuguese’s ability to lead Nigeria to the highly coveted AFCON showpiece on the Ivory Coast.
Nigeria finished the tournament as runners-up.
