  • The Croydon vs Cockfosters tie is generating huge buzz in England
  • This is because Ryan Hall scored just two seconds after the kickoff
  • Hall is a former Crystal Palace, Leeds United, and Luton Town star

Ryan Hall left spectators speechless with an incredible goal directly from the kick-off as he represented Croydon FC during Saturday's semi-finals of the London Senior Trophy.

The 36-year-old, who started his senior career at Crystal Palace before making nine appearances for Leeds United during the 2012/13 season, swiftly scored from the centre spot just 2.31 seconds into their 3-0 victory over Cockfosters Reserves.

The following day, Croydon posted a video of Hall's remarkable goal on their social media platforms. Accompanying the video, the club wrote:

"We've finally got a video of Ryan Hall scoring [Croydon's] first goal against [Cockfosters] in the London Senior Trophy. The goal was timed at 2.31 seconds, which we understand to be the fastest goal in senior football in the world."

Croydon wrapped up the tweet by tagging the official Guinness World Records account, seeking confirmation on whether Hall's goal set a new record for the earliest recorded goal in senior football history.

Guinness World Record replies to Croydon

As reported by the BBC, Guinness World Records then issued a statement which stated it unfortunately did not recognise Hall's goal as the fastest in football history.

"The quality of the goal makes it all the more unfortunate to confirm that sadly we don't monitor records outside of professional football."
"The world of football is so vast and the quality of competition varies so widely, it would be impossible for us to maintain accurate, global records for achievements outside of professional leagues, for which we rely on stats produced by governing bodies and sports performance companies.
"We of course wish Croydon the best of luck for their play-off push between now and the end of the season."

Maguire slams critics after scoring own goal

Sports Brief reported earlier that Harry Maguire has fired back at his critics after he came under fire following his comical own goal for England during the international break.

The Manchester United centre-back was named on the bench as The Three Lions took on Scotland in Glasgow on Tuesday night during a friendly clash.
