That’s a question on many fans’ minds after the Sheffield United player was sent off for a horrific tackle on Kaoru Mitoma.
The centre-back, who is on loan at Sheffield from Everton, was first shown a yellow card for his potentially leg-breaking tackle on the Brighton & Hove Albion star.
VAR quickly intervened, and in no time, the referee reversed the decision and gave Holgate his marching orders.

Mitoma was lucky to walk away from the tackle without picking up an injury, or worse, as the challenge had the potential to do so much more damage to the player.
Sheffield’s fans made matters worse by cheering for their player as he was sent off and booing Mitoma as he got up from the challenge.
Fans online were furious with the player, questioning how he could commit such a reckless foul.
