  • Paul Scholes has named the greatest-ever Champions League side
  • He lost two UEFA Champions League finals against that team
  • He sent a gift to one of the best players from the legendary team

Paul Scholes has named the greatest UEFA Champions League side ever and it is no surprise he was on the losing side to that team twice in his illustrious career.

Scholes played in four Champions League finals in his career, winning two against Chelsea and a dramatic one against Bayern Munich, when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer scored a late winner.

The Red Devils have yet to win another trophy in the competition since they last had the former England international. They also failed to win the Premier League since the last time he helped them win.

Scholes names greatest UCL side

United legend Scholes has named Guardiola's Barcelona squad of 2011 as the greatest-ever team to win the UCL in an interview quoted by Sportskeeda.

Guardiola was promoted from Barcelona B to take over the first team in 2008 and built one of the most formidable teams ever, winning 14 trophies before leaving in 2012.

Part of those 14 trophies was two Champions League trophies in 2009 and 2011, beating Sir Alex Ferguson's Manchester United on both occasions.

Scholes sends gift to Iniesta

Scholes and Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta started both 2009 and 2011 with the Spanish praising the English man as a living legend ahead of their first final.

In a video recirculated on X by Utd Faithfuls, Iniesta sent a special message to the ex-England international after receiving his signed shirt.

“Thank you so much to my friends for getting me a signed and personally dedicated shirt from a player I have always greatly admired, Scholes! Thank you, Paul,” he wrote.

At 39, Iniesta is still active and recently signed for Emirates FC in the UAE Pro League after spending five years with Vissel Kobe in Japan.

Scholes pokes fun at Lingard

Sports Brief reported on Scholes poking fun at Jesse Lingard after the former Manchester United star shared photos of his solo training in Dubai while he was searching for a new club.

The pundit commented on Lingard's previous post, which fans believe was derogatory. The winger signed for FC Seoul recently, becoming the K League's highest-paid player.
