  • Jurgen Klopp is the latest recipient of the English Premier League's Manager of the Month award
  • Sir Alex Ferguson has won the most amount of awards, earning 27 during his time in England
  • Klopp is now only the fifth coach to have won 10 or more Manager of the Month awards in the EPL

It’s not easy being a football manager.

It’s harder being in charge of a team in the English Premier League, considered the toughest league in the world. It’s so hard that only five managers have won the league’s Manager of the Month award over 10 times.

Jurgen Klopp won the Manager of the Month award for January, taking his tally to 10.

Sports Brief looks at who those 10 managers are.

English Premier League managers with most awards

Sir Alex Ferguson

The Scotsman took over Manchester United in 1986 and brought success to the club.

He won trophies with his previous side, Aberdeen FC, but it was nothing compared to what he did at United.

Ferguson won 40 trophies at the English side, including 13 league titles. Such was his impact at the club that they built a statue in his honour in 2011, Manchester United’s website confirmed.

Ferguson has won 27 Manager of the Month awards during his illustrious career.

Arsene Wenger

A former rival of Ferguson’s, Wenger amassed 15 Manager of the Month (MotM) awards during his time at the Gunners.

Wenger managed the English side from 1996 to 2018, leading them to 17 titles.

As noted by FIFA’s website, the Frenchman made history when he became the first foreign coach to win a double in England. He won the English Premier League and FA Cup in just his second season at the club.

Wenger is currently FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development.

Pep Guardiola

Guardiola has only been at Manchester City for eight years, but he has already made quite an impact.

The Spaniard has won 11 MotM awards since taking over the English side, and has helped bring success to the blue half of Manchester. The former Barcelona manager's name is already thrown around when talks of the greatest manager are discussed, and it's easy to see why.

Guardiola has won 16 trophies with the side, including a treble last year.

David Moyes

Moyes may not be having the most success as West Ham United manager, but history proves he is an elite-level manager.

Moyes was in charge of Everton for 11 full seasons, where he guided them to two top-six finishes and won 10 MotM awards. His impressive performances as manager of The Toffees caught the eye of Ferguson, who handpicked Moyes to succeed him as manager of United, The Independent noted.

It didn’t go too well for the Hammers boss, as he only lasted 10 months at the Red Devils.

Jurgen Klopp

The Liverpool boss is leaving the Premier League at the end of the season but has a few more months to add to his impressive tally.

The German manager has been at the Reds for nine seasons and has won seven trophies at the side. Liverpool have a chance to add four more this season, as they are still in the running for the FA Cup, Carabao Cup, EPL and Europa League.

Jurgen Klopp currently has 10 MotM awards, and made history when he became the first manager to win five awards in a row. The former Borussia Dortmund manager is also the last recipient of the prize.

When Jurgen Klopp trolled Cristiano Ronaldo

Sports Brief previously reported how Klopp was drawn into the GOAT debate and how he provided a hilarious answer.

The Liverpool boss was questioned about who the greatest was, adding that his father always told him it was Brazil's Pele.

The German tactician then gave his thoughts on the matter, and ended up trolling Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo in the process.
