  • Kylian Mbappe has decided to leave French side, Paris Saint-Germain, at the end of the season
  • PSG are looking at forwards to replace Mbappe in the team but are also looking at other players
  • Barcelona's current financial issues could force them into selling one of their prized youngsters

Paris Saint-Germain are already hard at work looking for Kylian Mbappe’s replacement.

The French superstar will leave the side at the end of the current season, with Real Madrid as his most likely destination.

As noted by Sky Sports, Mbappe communicated to club president, Nasser Al-Khelaifi, that he will not sign a new deal with the Ligue 1 champions.

The decision sent a ripple effect across Europe, with many clubs taking notice and many players being linked as a replacement for the French captain.

While PSG intends to replace Mbappe, they are looking to bolster some of the other positions thanks to the money they will save due to the forward's departure.

The amount PSG will make from Mbappe

With his contract expiring at the end of the season, Mbappe is set to depart the club as a free agent, meaning PSG won’t receive any fee for selling him.

They will save money on his astronomical bonuses as well. Sporting News reported he earns €75 million a year at the French side, which they can now put towards more than one player.

Who are PSG interested in?

While the French side have been linked with a few forwards since the World Cup winner made his decision, they are also looking at strengthening other attacking areas.

Football Espana reports they are looking at Barcelona’s Gavi as a potential signing. The 19-year-old is a former Golden Boy winner and comes highly rated.

PSG boss, Luis Enrique, is also a fan of the youngster, having worked with him in the Spanish national team. The youngster has already played over 100 games for the Catalan side and was an integral part of Xavi’s squad before his injury.

How much would Gavi cost PSG?

While Barcelona have no plans to sell their talented youngster, he is currently valued at €90mil. The club’s financial worries could change their mind, especially if the French side makes a substantial offer.

The reigning La Liga champions have placed a buyout clause of €1 billion on the 19-year-old, so the Ligue 1 champions will have no option but to try and negotiate a deal for the player.

Gavi suffers a season-ending injury

Sports Brief reported last year that Barcelona were dealt a significant blow when Gavi suffered a major injury.

The young midfielder sustained a severe injury while on international duty with Spain in a game against Georgia.

The 19-year-old needed to undergo surgery on his knee and was effectively ruled out for the rest of the season.
