Arsenal midfielder Jorginho made some interesting picks when asked to name the five best players in the Premier League at the moment.
Being one of the most competitive leagues in the world, the English top flight is typically home to some of the best players in world football.
Thus, it came as no surprise when the former Chelsea man found it difficult to narrow down his list to just five players, but his picks contained some typical names.
In an interview with JD Football, the conversation of the best players in the Premier League came up, with the co-host tipping Jorginho to include Kevin de Bruyne, Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah in his list.

Jorginho agreed with the first three picks, saying, "These three for sure, it’s a tough one, yeah, it’s tough."
The co-host then suggested Manchester City midfielder Rodri to the 32-year-old, but Jorginho instead went for Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka.
That left one slot in the Italy international’s top five, and despite playing alongside the best midfielder in world football at Arsenal in the form of Declan Rice, Jorginho surprised everyone when he went for Reece James instead.
This is even though the hosts of the show threw in names like Martin Odegaard, William Saliba and Virgil van Dijk at him for the fifth slot.
Why Jorginho rates Reece James
Jorginho had a decent explanation for selecting Reece James as his pick despite the wing-back’s injury setbacks this season.
James has often been compared to Liverpool ace Trent-Alexander Arnold by fans, and there is often a fierce debate on social media on who is the better right back.

FootballBut according to Jorginho, who won the Champions League with Reece James at Chelsea in 2021, his former teammate was simply ‘more complete’.
He said, “They are a bit different. But if I am to choose for my team, I’d choose Reece. I think he’s more complete on everything. But Trent has these passes and shot; it’s unbelievable. They are a bit different but overall I’d choose Reece.”
Reece James' injury update
According to Football London, Reece James is making strides towards recovering from injury after his latest setback.
The right-back missed three months of the new season in 2023 but returned in December, only to suffer another setback in a 2-0 defeat to Everton at Goodison Park.
Posting on his Instagram story recently, the 24-year-old shared teasers of his progress, posting an image of his boots alongside slightly muddied white socks.

FootballSports Brief also reported on Rio Ferdinand’s controversial take on Bukayo Saka.
The former Manchester United man sensationally claimed Saka was not world-class yet, as he ranked Manchester City’s Phil Foden higher than the Arsenal man.
According to Rio, Saka was yet to prove himself in a stage like the Champions League.
