Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has shared his thoughts about his lack of game time at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

The Nigeria national team have played six games so far in the competition, and Musa is one of the players in the squad yet to make an appearance.

The three-time African champions have the chance to add to the number of AFCON titles won on Sunday when they face the host nation.

In the press conference ahead of the AFCON 2023 final gathered by Sports Brief, Musa discloses what is more important than his lack of game time in the competition thus far.

"People that know me know that I am a patient someone," he said.
"I have played for the team, country and players to win; it is also good for my teammates to play for me and win for the country.
"The most important thing for me is to win, and anything can happen tomorrow.
"I am a player who always accepts what the coach says; whenever he decides to put me on, I am fine."

The Nigeria national team captain is one of the members of the team to have won the competition before, with Kenneth Omeruo being the second player.

Both players were part of the Super Eagles squad that won the AFCON title in 2013 under the tutelage of the late Stephen Keshi.

Musa downplays Ivory Coast resurgence

Sports Brief earlier reported on Musa downplaying the resurgence of the host nation ahead of the AFCON 2023 final at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium on Sunday.

The Super Eagles captain is not bothered about the Elephants' form going into the final after both teams faced each other in the group stage.

Nigeria won the group stage tie 1-0 courtesy of William Troost-Ekong's goal in the second half.
