Nigeria defender William Troost-Ekong has shared his admiration for former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand.
Troost-Ekong has been instrumental for the Super Eagles at the Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, leading Nigeria to the final.
Following Nigeria's victory over South Africa in the semi-final on Wednesday, the ex-England international displayed his support for the two-time champions.
Ferdinand posted on X, formerly Twitter, a photo of himself holding a Nigerian jersey while adding the colours of the flag.

Troost-Ekong reacted by paying tribute to the legendary centre-back, claiming he would gladly give up his position for his idol.
"One of the few players I would be willing to give my number up for! Legend!," wrote the Super Eagles defender on social media.
The Greece-based defender has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Saudi clubs following his outstanding performances at the tournament in Ivory Coast, according to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
