  • Ivorian, Ibrahim Sangare, provided buses for Nigerian fans and journalists
  • The buses transported over 100 Nigerians to Bouake for the AFCON semis
  • Nigeria beat South Africa to reach the final of the tourney's 2023 edition

An Ivorian fan, Ibrahim Sangare, voluntarily paid for buses to transport fans of the Super Eagles and Nigerian journalists to Bouake.

The stranded fans, as well as reporters, travelled from Abidjan to Bouake to watch Nigeria's semi-final against South Africa on Wednesday.

The four-hour journey was made possible by the intervention of the good Samaritan, who has a Nigerian mother but is based in Ivory Coast.

Sangare's kind gesture caught the attention of many, with fans and journalists thanking him for playing a role in their smooth journey to Bouake.

"Say a prayer for [Sangare]. En route Bouake courtesy an Ivorien-Nigerian with other 96 Nigerian journalists/bloggers. The young man - Ibrahim Sangare reached out to me that he’ll like to donate 2 buses (50 seaters each) to Nigerian Journalists willing to go by road from Abidjan to Bouake FOR FREE," wrote Ojora Babatunde of Objsports on social media.

According to Sangare, he was inspired to help the fans and journalists after discovering they were having issues with transportation.

"I provided four buses," he told Osasu Obayiuwana on social media. "I don't like to see Nigerians suffer. A lot of Nigerians came here and didn't know about Abidjan. I wanted to try my best to help. I went to a hotel and I saw them trying to negotiate to Bouake and it touched me so I decided to help them to go and come free."

Sangare also explained was born to an Ivorian father and a Nigerian mother in Abidjan and finds it difficult to pick a team for the final.

"My mother is from Osun State in Nigeria. For the game, God will do his best. I will leave it to God."

The young man also opened up on his admiration for Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen, claiming they shared similar stories.

"I like Osimhen very much. I will do it again for Osimhen. His story is like my story. I was a street boy and God brought me this far," he concluded.

Nwabali shines as Nigeria reach final

Previously, Sports Brief reported that Stanley Nwabali saved two penalties for Nigeria as they defeated South Africa to reach the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Chippa United goalkeeper has been in fine form for the Super Eagles and will face Ivory Coast in the final. He is also in contention as 'goalkeeper of the tournament'.
