An unlucky punter is gnawing his teeth after missing out on KSh 1.6 million (£13,000) off a Ksh 120 stake following Tottenham's shocking EFL Cup defeat to Colchester on Tuesday, September 24.

The two sides settled for a barren draw in regulation time, only for Colchester to stun Spurs 4-3 on penalties to qualify for the next round of the competition.

Fascinatingly, the punter had got results right from the Argentinian fourth tier, the English Conference, Austrian Bundesliga, English non league and on a Scottish reserve team.

It was all left for Spurs to win it for him, but two missed spot-kicks in the shootout left him red-faced.

With the visitors staring at an upset, Mauricio Pochettino introduced Son Heung-min, Erik Lamela and Eriksen to try and get a late winner.

However, the trio could not break through at the Colchester Community Stadium as the hosts forced them into shootouts.

Eriksen and Lucas Moura went on to miss Spurs' spot kicks, handing Colchester a famous win at home.
