South Africa's national team coach, Hugo Broos has explained why their semi-final clash against Nigeria's Super Eagles in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations is special for both teams.
Bafana Bafana secured their semi-final ticket after defeating the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde in the quarter-finals on penalties, while the Super Eagles defeated Angola 1-0 in the same knockout stage.
South Africa and Nigeria's clash is one of the biggest rivalries in African football, with the Super Eagles being victorious the last time they met in the 2019 AFCON.
Ahead of the mouthwatering semi-final, Broos, during the press conference after Cape Verde's match, disclosed why it is a special tie for both nations, according to a report by FARPost.

"I think the Super Eagles of Nigeria is a side that became better and better every day," he said.
"So, we have to study them a bit more. From tomorrow [Sunday], we will start analysing.
"We will see how we can use the flaws in this team, but they also have a lot of qualities in that team.
"It is a little bit special for both teams because we will play against each other in the [2026 FIFA] World Cup qualifiers in a few months. So, it's a test for both of us."
The match between both teams is scheduled to take place at the Stade de la Paix, Bouake, on Wednesday, February 7.
