  • Harry Kane has already scored 24 goals in the Bundesliga in what is his debut season in the league
  • Robert Lewandowski has scored the most goals in a season in the Bundesliga, as he netted 41 goals
  • Bayern's Kane is closing in on Lewandowski's record but admitted that he is taking it one game at a time

Is it too early for Harry Kane to start dreaming of titles and records?

The English striker has settled in nicely at Bayern Munich and is already finding the back of the net with ease.

Kane scored once more during Munich’s 3-1 win over Borussia Monchengladbach, taking his tally for the season in the league to 24. As a result, the former Tottenham Hotspur star is closing in on Robert Lewandowski’s Bundesliga record.

What Lewandowski record could Kane surpass?

In the 2020/21 season, Lewandowski broke Gerd Muller’s long-standing record when he scored 41 goals in a season.

The previous record of 40 goals was set by Muller in the 1971/72 season and looked like it would last the test of time until the Polish striker showed up, the Bundesliga reported.

Kane needs 18 goals to surpass the record and has 14 games to get it.

Kane’s thoughts on Lewandowski's record

The Polish attacker was asked about Lewa’s record after netting his 24th league goal, admitting that he probably didn’t picture himself getting so many goals at this stage, Goal reported.

He also talked about the record and whether he was dreaming about surpassing it already.

“I don’t like to think about records in particular, as they are a consequence of hard work and doing all the little stuff off the pitch that put you to where you are on it. My focus is on the short term and then as we get closer and we get towards the end of the season and I am in touching distance, then for sure it will be something I would love to achieve,” he said.

Harry Kane sets new Bundesliga milestone

Sports Brief earlier reported how Kane had surpassed a record previously set by Erling Haaland.

The Norwegian attacker scored 22 goals in his first 20 games for Borussia Dortmund in the German league.

Kane, who was signed by Bayern Munich from Tottenham Hotspur, already reached 21 goals in just 15 games.
