The Guinea football national team received a heroic welcome in Conakry upon their return home from the Africa Cup of Nations.
The Syli National were dumped out of the competition on February 2 after a historic run that saw them reach the quarter-finals.
Coached by Kaba Diawara, Guinea held five-time champions Cameroon to a one-all draw in their opening game before beating the Gambia 1-0. They lost their final group game to reigning champions Senegal, but still managed to get out of Group C as one of the best third-placed teams.

In the round of 16, they faced Equatorial Guinea, who had managed to frustrate Nigeria before thrashing hosts Ivory Coast. Tournament top scorer Emilio Nsue missed a penalty before Mohamed Bayo scored a stoppage-time goal to send Guinea through.

Guinea's next game will be against 2019 champions Algeria in a World Cup qualifier match.
