Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro knows just how and when to filter the criticisms from angry supporters and not allow it to affect his productivity while doing his job as a manager.

The 63-year-old coach, leading Nigeria’s charge for a fourth Africa Cup of Nations title in Ivory Coast, was constantly battered by fans prior to the start of the competition owing to the Super Eagles' poor form.

According to Complete Sports, Peseiro disclosed before Nigeria’s quarter-final game against Angola that is not bothered anymore about the criticisms at this stage of his career.

“I don’t think about criticism again. If it was 20 years ago, I would have been affected by what the fans are saying about me.
"There is always the good and bad media. The key thing is to maintain balance. Coaches will always be criticised. Everyone cannot speak well about me like I’m god or superhuman.”

The Super Eagles will face Angola in a quarter-final match at the ongoing AFCON 2023 in Abidjan on Friday.

Peseiro warns against Angola threat

Meanwhile, Jose Peseiro has disclosed that Angola deserves to be in the quarter-finals of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations ahead of their crunch tie against the Super Eagles on Friday, Daily Post reports.

The 63-year-old tactician said the Palancas Negras did not reach this stage of the competition by luck as they have shown a lot of capability to reach the final eight in Ivory Coast.

Angola are the highest-scoring nation in the AFCON so far with nine goals and will be hoping to pull off one of the biggest upsets of the competition by knocking out the Super Eagles in the quarter-finals.

Nwabali to feature for Super Eagles

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is back in full training and could feature in goal for Nigeria in their crunch quarter-final clash against Angola.

Nigerians were alarmed when the 27-year-old goalkeeper was stretchered off in the final 10 minutes of Nigeria's comfortable victory over Rigobert Song's Cameroon.

Nwabali has kept a clean sheet in three of Nigeria’s four matches at the AFCON, having not conceded since the 36th minute of their opening match in Abidjan against Equatorial Guinea.
