  • Pitso Mosimane has confirmed his move to Saudi club Abha FC
  • The tactician had been touted to join Premier Soccer League club Kaizer Chiefs
  • Former Defender Mokete Tsotetsi has admitted that it would be difficult for Amakhosi to land the tactician

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Mokete Tsotetsi has decried the club's failure to land impressive tactician Pitso Mosimane.

The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach was recently announced as the new manager of Saudi club Abha FC.

Mosimane has been heavily linked with a move to join Chiefs since he left UAE club Al Wahda in the summer of 2023.

'Jingles', as he is fondly called, was said to be closing in to becoming the new Chiefs manager since Molefi Ntseki was shown the exit door.

Cavin Johnson was appointed to take over the team temporarily as the club continued their search for a permanent manager.

Mosimane has confirmed his move to Abha FC, where he will be in charge until the end of the 2023/2024 season.

Tsotetsi stated that it would now be more difficult for Kaizer Chiefs to get the services of the coach now that he is abroad. He said, as per SNL 24:

"I think Chiefs had a chance to grab him while he was still available.
"Maybe they had a talk with him and did not agree on certain things because Pitso has his own technical team that he travels with.
"And if the Chiefs bring him in, then he would need to come in with his own technical team and change the whole technical team.
"Financially, that would disturb them because they need to be with the technical team they currently have. Them going for him while he is in Saudi Arabia will be more expensive.
"I don't think it will be a wise move for Chiefs to fetch him there because it would be more expensive."

Kaizer Chiefs won't give up

Sports Brief earlier reported that Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly not backing out on the possibility of appointing Pitso Mosimane as their permanent manager despite taking up a new job in the Saudi Pro League.

The South African tactician, who recently signed a four-month deal with Abha Club, could be making a return to the Premier Soccer League soon.

Mosimane's former assistant, Cavin Johnson, is currently managing AmaKhosi on an interim basis and has yet to decide on his future with the club.
