On their part, City silenced Burnley 3-1 to reignite their chances of securing a record fourth straight Premier League title.

Julian Alvarez netted a first-half brace during the tie, with Rodri also getting his name on the scoresheet after the break.

Is Kevin De Bruyne Man City's secret weapon?

Guardiola could hardly hide his delight in Kevin De Bruyne's masterclass during the tie, with the Spaniard spotted pointing at the midfielder in jubilation after he delivered a perfectly weighted assist to set up Alvarez.

The Mirror reports that De Bruyne's hunger during the match was something to behold as the Belgian chased every ball down as though his life depended on it.

Speaking after the match, Pep was full of praise for the midfielder, with the City boss hailing his star player's leadership and influence on the team.

"He is a really important player for us, not only in the past but in the present," Guardiola said via Euro Sport.
"I think his leadership is proven on the pitch," he continued.

De Bruyne explains his relationship with Mourinho

Elsewhere, Sports Brief reported on De Bruyne explaining his relationship with Jose Mourinho. The manager, fans and media were blamed for the playmaker’s departure at Chelsea.

The Man City captain debunked the media narrative on their relationship and claimed he only spoke to the Portuguese manager twice during their time together.
