South Africa face Morocco on Tuesday, January 30, in the Round of 16, hoping to join Angola in the quarter-final.

Namibia were beaten by both South Africa and Angola, conceding a total of seven goals in both games. Angola handed them a painful defeat in the Round of 16 on Saturday, January 27.

Bethuel Muzeu provided the assist for Namibia's Namibia's only goal in the tournament against Tunisia, scored by Deon Hotto, per BBC. He wants both countries to go deep in the tournament.

“To be honest Angola will go far and as you know South Africa will surprise a lot of people,” per iDiski Times.

He highlighted South Africa's depth of quality.

“Those guys [Bafana-Bafana], I cannot lie to you, they have quality. They have quality and if only they knew the quality they have in them."

Angola play the mighty Nigeria in the quarter-final, while South Africa will play Cape Verde if they eliminate Morocco.

South Africa's path to AFCON final

South Africa's path to the final of AFCON 2023 is tough. They must beat Morocco, the top-ranked team in Ivory Coast, to progress to the quarter-final.

If they advance, they will face giant killers Cape Verde, who topped a group with Ghana and Egypt before eliminating Mauritania in their Round of 16 clash.

South Africa could play Nigeria or Angola in the semis and would need a plan to stop Victor Osimhen to reach the final, as Sports Brief previously reported.

Pitso Mosimane's message to South Africa

Sports Brief also reported on former Mamelodi Sundowns and South Africa coach, Pitso Mosimane, sending his message of support to the team ahead of their huge match against Morocco.

He highlighted South Africa's strengths before wishing them the best against a better opponent, believing that confidence, resilience and hard work would be needed to overcome the Atlas Lions.
