Devon Petersen has made South Africa proud. The 33-year-old, who was born in Mitchells Plain, won the German Darts Championship.
Petersen beat Jonny Clayton 8 - 3 to take the crown and he made history. He became the first South African to win a professional Darts Corporation (PDC) event in Europe.
Petersen revealed lockdown helped him prepare and added "it's been hard work behind the scenes".
He told the PDC website:
"Lockdown means we've had more time practising, there's loads of people who've influenced my game and this is the polished version - but I don't even feel like I'm there yet."
Petersen has been working hard on becoming a darts championship since the age of 15. He bagged a whopping R543 000 from the historic win.
News of his victory spread fast and South Africans could not have been prouder.

In a comment, Syndab revealed her mother is a single parent of two who quit her job to pursue her doctorate degree. Despite it taking her six and a half years to complete her degree, the beautiful mom succeeded.
