Tottenham Hotspur boss Jose Mourinho may have been handed a three-match ultimatum to avoid being sacked by his employers.

The 58-year-old took over from former handler Mauricio Pochettino on November 20, 2019, but he doesn't seem to have the answer to Spurs' problems.

Although he has already guided them to the final of the EFL Cup where they will face red-hot Manchester City, however, he might not oversee the game if his results in the league remain.

Former Spurs and Scotland defender Alan Hutton insisted there was no room for error after a dire run of form.

The 36-year-old former right-back told Football Insider in an exclusive interview while dissecting the issues surrounding the North Londoners.

Mourinho and his men have recorded just one win in their last six Premier League outings, as the remaining five ended in defeats.

Although they are through to the Europa League round of 16 after beating Austrian Bundesliga Wolfsberger 8-1 on aggregate.

Tottenham's next five EPL games will be against Burnley, Fulham, Crystal Palace, Arsenal and Aston Villa and Hutton insists that Mourinho cannot afford anything but three straight wins in preparation for the North London derby. He told Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge:

“Simple fact is it’s got to be four wins out of four, that’s where he’s at at the moment. I don’t think there’s any room for any dropped points within that.

“Obviously, getting into the Europa League and into the last-16 was going to be no problem but the next three league games are teams that he should be beating, no problem.

“I know every game in the Premier League is difficult with the squad and the players he’s got at his disposal, he should be beating those teams and if he doesn’t the pressure will mount and he could go.”

Spurs have lost to Liverpool, Brighton, Chelsea, Manchester City, and West Ham since the end of January. They were also knocked out of the FA Cup in a 5-4 thriller against Everton.
