Reports cited in SPORTbible claim that despite mixed fortunes for Werner at the just concluded season, Spanish powerhouse Real Madrid are desperate for his services.

The forward had a slow start to last campaign under ousted Frank Lampard managing just two goals in his first six Premier League appearances.

However, he went on to play a central role in Chelsea's Champions League campaign, with his performances helping the Stamford Bridge dwellers lift the title.

Madrid, who are expected to spend big this summer are now said to be tracking Werner and are plotting a sensational summer move for the forward.

The La Liga giants' new manager, Ancelotti, is reportedly a big fan of Werner's versatility, and would gladly have him play on the wing.

Reports on Real's interest in the former Stuttgart star came only days after former Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas backed him to play an integral part in the Blues' team next season.

"I watch every single Chelsea game, so I've followed the first seasons of the club's two big German signings, Kai Havertz and Timo Werner, very closely and I am convinced next season we will start to really see the best of them," Fabregas wrote in his column for The Daily Telegraph.

Chelsea interested in Achraf Hakimi

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported Chelsea have intensified their plans to sign Achraf Hakimi from Inter Milan.

The west Londoners are in desperate need of a new right wing-back and have identified Achraf Hakimi for the role.

Hakimi had a stellar campaign with Inter, helping them win the Scudetto during the 2020/21 campaign under Antonio Conte.

The Blues are looking to use some of their fringe players as part of the deal to land the Morrocan footballer.
