According to Metro UK, the German tactician cited his diminishing energy levels as the major factor in his surprise decision.

In a video shared online, the former Borussia Dortmund boss noted that he is 'running out of energy' after more than 20 years in football management.

Klopp's next move after Liverpool exit

With many pondering Klopp's next move after his stunning revelation, Lawrenson has come out to disclose the German's future plans.

Speaking on Off the Ball, the ex-Reds player said:

"I'm not sure I should tell you this but it's not a massive secret. He's having a house built in Mallorca. I have a house "
"So he's probably going to retreat there for a while, I would suggest," Lawrenson added.

Klopp joined Liverpool in 2015 after a successful stint with Borussia Dortmund.

The 56-year-old has gone on to win multiple titles with the Merseysiders, including the Champions League and the Premier League.
