Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali has opened up on the severity of the injury he suffered in Nigeria's 2-0 win against Cameroon.
Two goals from Ademola Lookman were enough as the West Africans defeated their rivals to set up a quarter-final clash with Angola.
The Atalanta forward opened the scoring in the 36th minute after Nigeria talisman, Victor Osimhen found him inside the opposing box.
The Indomitable Lions battled hard to restore parity, but the Nigerian defenders were resolute. Cameroon went all out in the second half and almost crowded the Super Eagles net.
Off a corner kick set piece, Nwabali then collided with Georges-Kevin N'Koudou and went down onto the turf, with the centre referee signalling to the medics for assistance.
After some treatment, the goalkeeper played for a few minutes more before the Nigeria technical crew was forced to replace him with Francis Uzoho in the 80th minute.
After the game, Nwabali told Sports Brief that the doctors would need to assess him:
"I feel great after tonight's performance. I was okay before this game, but it happened this way. I will be fine. I don't know, but I wish to come back. I still feel the pain."
It remains to be seen if Nwabali will be available for the Super Eagles' AFCON quarter-final clash with Angola on February 2.
