  • Some Juventus fans took the words of their manager Max Allegri personally
  • The Juventini dressed as guards for their game against 19th-placed Empoli
  • The action is a direct response to title rivals Inter Milan’s reactions

Massimiliano Allegri has offended the Inter Milan hierarchy for the second time, and Juventus fans are inflaming their manager's words with their actions today.

Juventus and Inter Milan are involved in a two-horse race for the Italian Serie A title this season as both teams look to displace Napoli, the current champions.

The Old Lady have a point advantage over the Nerazzurri, having played a game more before their match against Empoli due to Inter’s involvement in the Coppa Italia in Saudi Arabia.

Why Juventus fans dressed as guards

As seen in a video recirculated on X by GIFN, some Juve fans dressed as guards with police caps and travelled together in a bus for their game against bottom side Empoli.

Per La Gazzetta dello Sport, after the Bianconeri beat Salernitana 6-1 earlier this month, Allegri was quizzed about the title race and compared it to thieves and guards. This comment did not go down well with their rivals.

The six-time Scudetto winner was again asked a question about the title race, and he likened it to Jannik Sinner beating Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open semi-final.

He quickly explained what he meant, claiming he didn't want the Milan club to be offended because they are touchy, leading the fans to wear guard caps to call Inter thieves yet again.

Allegri could become the first manager to reach 1,000 Serie A points if he leads his team to victory against Empoli.

Allegri lost cool against AC Milan

Sports Brief previously reported on Allegri dramatising on the touchline during his side’s 1-0 win over his former club AC Milan, thanks to former Milan star Manuel Locatelli’s goal.

The manager got agitated in the second half and flung his jacket and tie. He was marauding on the touchline, kicking everything in his path before he was shown a yellow card.
