eNCA sports anchor Sandile Ngobese, better known as "kaNqose" has reportedly passed away. The news was confirmed on eNCA's Facebook page on Monday. Sandile was a huge sports fan and shared his passion without shame on social media.
His cause of death is currently unknown to the public. Tributes have been pouring in for the news anchor from current affairs followers as well as his colleagues.
SABC News journalist Flo Letoaba shared a tweet that praised Sandile as she said goodbye:
"My heart is broken in a million pieces, a former colleague, a phenomenal broadcaster, a real mensch, Sandile kaNqose, goodbye my brother, I will hold you in my heart always," she said.
SABC News broadcaster Thabiso Sithole also took the time to share his condolences:
"Heartfelt Condolences from the SABC News sports desk to the family & the sports desk headed by Vata Ngobeni. To eNCA on the passing of a colleague & respected broadcast rival, Sandile kaNqose."
Award-winning news anchor from NewzRoom Afrika, Xoli Mngambi sent a heartfelt message as well about Sandile's passing:
"This is devastating. A passionate and enthusiastic broadcaster is no more. Our on-air banter was always filled with fun and laughter. I cannot imagine the pain and heartache that his family is going through.Vata Ngobeni, strength to your team as well. Rest In Peace Sandile."
